Happy Friday to all!  We wrapped up this week with our States and Capitals test over the Northeast Region!  Most students did a great job!  I will return these next week, but grades are posted online.  Next week students will be getting a new group of states and capitals to begin studying.  We will not test on these until Tuesday, January 24th.  However, next week we will have Unit 10 Social Studies test on Friday. We have been studying the causes of tension between the colonists and Great Britain. Students were given the study guide yesterday and should begin studying a little each night to prepare.  I plan to play a review game in class on Thursday.

Next week we will continue our NWEA testing.  We will be taking the Reading Test on Tuesday and Thursday.

We are in the final phase of our research unit of writing.  Students have been assigned one of the thirteen original colonies to research.  We have provided them with some resources to get started, but I would encourage them to spend some time at home researching as well.  We will be working on this for the next couple of weeks.

Have a great long weekend!

We started our NWEA testing for math today.  I was really proud of the students.  They worked very hard during our testing session.  We will finish the math testing tomorrow morning.  Reading will begin next week.

We are starting our study of the 50 States, their locations, and their capitals. We will break the country down in to different regions to learn them and quiz on each region weekly.  Then we will have a final test over all 50 to wrap things up. Today students were given a study guide and a map to begin studying the Northeastern States (9 states) and they made flashcards to help with learning the states and capitals. Everyone was supposed to bring these home today! Please encourage your child to study a little each night so that they will be prepared for Friday's first quiz!  Have a great night!
